Displayed in a low lit room, the sense of investigation required to thoughtfully engage with another person. Who are they? What do they care about? To stop, to pause, to be present with another. I have a deep struggle with my identity having rooted myself in a variety of cultures. The use of paper and black ink marker reference to my Chinese heritage where my identity began having being born in Toronto. The continues writing emanated from a slideshow I played from my time when I first landed in London where the seed of being a creative and an artist all started. I wrote a word or a phrase for each photo. The photos were not tailored in anyway other then arranged in chronological order. The reason being on the ground, crumpled until soft along with having foot prints across the paper showcases in a figurative nature people walking over other peoples lives, passing them, unengaged with them. Similar with the ground we walk on day-to-day. The sheet was crumpled until soft as well as being torn gives the presence of the ephemeral period of our lives.
